Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection(IMSI)
Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) is a more sophisticated way of ICSI whereby, prior to injection, the spermatozoon is selected at higher magnification. During IMSI, the Sperm is magnified 8000 times, as against only 400 times as in ICSI. By virtue of 20 times more magnification of sperm by IMSI as compared to ICSI, we can select more competent sperm for fertilization. With IMSI, the spermatozoon can be evaluated for fine integrity of its nucleus and the injection of a normal spermatozoon with a vacuole-free head can be assured IMSI is particularly useful for men with low sperm count or Poor Motility ( Male Factor Infertility ).
